Today it travels to bridal homes from Kestopur to Madhyamgram — arriving before sunrise for Dodhi Mangal, staying until the last photograph at Bou Bhaat. What hasn't changed is that I don't paint one standard face on every client.
A bride getting ready in a third-floor flat off VIP Road with two ceiling fans running has completely different needs from one in an air-conditioned banquet in New Town. A Gaye Holud on an open Barasat rooftop in April is a different technical problem again. That's the part nobody tells you when you're searching — and it's the part that decides whether your face still looks right in the photographs six hours later.

Daytime, outdoors, with turmeric flying. A deliberately lighter base set much harder, in tones that hold their own against a yellow saree and marigold instead of vanishing into them.

The commonest complaint about booking a makeup artist here is that nobody publishes a price. You message, you wait, you get a different figure than your cousin got, and travel or draping charges appear at the end. So here are mine, in public.

Why brides book me
Five things I do differently
- The price is on the website. You won't be quoted one number and charged another, and draping isn't a surprise line item at the end.
- Products chosen for this climate, not for a tutorial. Kolkata runs humid through most of the wedding calendar. A base that photographs beautifully in an air-conditioned studio can slide by the second hour at an outdoor mandap — so I don't use one.
- A real trial, with the fee credited back. You see your look before the day. If something's wrong we fix it on a Tuesday afternoon, not at 5 a.m. on your wedding morning.
- Skin gets asked about first. Sensitivities, acne, allergies, past reactions. On the enquiry call — not while I'm already opening a palette.
- I'll say no to a look that won't suit you. If your reference photo won't work with your features, outfit or venue lighting, I'll tell you honestly and show you what will.
On the ratings: feedback comes directly from clients and from social media. I'm not going to inflate a review count to look bigger than I am — if you'd like to speak to a past client before booking, ask and I'll connect you.

How much does a bridal makeup artist cost in Kestopur and north Kolkata?
Bridal makeup in the Kestopur, Barasat and New Town belt generally runs between ₹5,000 and ₹15,000 per function. Beautiliate's bridal packages start at ₹8,000 for a single wedding-day look and ₹4,000 for party or festive makeup, with travel included inside a 12 km radius of Kestopur.
The exact figure depends on how many functions you book, whether hair styling and saree draping are included, and how far the venue is. Multi-function wedding bundles cost less than booking each event separately.
Do you offer a trial before the wedding day?
Yes — a paid trial at ₹2,000, and that fee is adjusted against your final booking when you confirm the date.
A trial matters most if you have oily or sensitive skin, because it lets us see how the base holds up in Kolkata humidity before the actual day, rather than discovering a problem at the venue when there's no time to fix it.
Do you travel to the bride's home or the wedding venue?
Yes, home and venue service is the default rather than an add-on. I travel across Kestopur, VIP Road, Baguiati, Teghoria, Chinar Park, Jyangra, Lake Town, Salt Lake, New Town, Rajarhat, Madhyamgram, Barasat, Birati and Dum Dum.
For early-morning Bengali rituals such as Dodhi Mangal and Gaye Holud I arrive at the house before sunrise, which is exactly why the slot needs booking early during peak season.
How far in advance should I book a makeup artist in Kolkata?
Three to six months for a wedding in the Agrahayan to Magh season (roughly late November to February), when most Bengali weddings fall and the good dates go first.
Four to six weeks for Durga Puja, Poila Boishakh, Lakshmi Puja and Kali Puja bookings. Party and small-function bookings can often be fitted in within a week.
Will the makeup survive Kolkata humidity and an outdoor ceremony?
That's precisely what the product selection is built around. Kolkata sits at high humidity for most of the wedding and festival calendar, so I work with a waterproof, transfer-resistant base and a humidity-set finish instead of a heavy cream base that slides.
For outdoor Gaye Holud and daytime mandap ceremonies the base is deliberately kept lighter and set harder, so it photographs clean under direct sun and survives turmeric, tears and long pandal hours.
Do you do traditional Bengali bridal looks as well as modern styles?
Both. I do the full traditional Bengali bridal look — chandan work on the forehead, bold kajal-defined eyes, red bindi, aalta, and a setting that will actually hold the mukut and topor — and equally do soft, low-coverage modern glam for brides who don't want a heavy face.
Most clients land somewhere in between. That balance gets decided at the trial, not on the wedding morning.
